Soldiers and Sailors Monument at Monument Circle in Indianapolis, Indiana

On walking back from Earth Day on Saturday April 23, 2011 I ran into all this, as Several onlookers spent most of Saturday waiting for the statue, Victory, also known as Miss Indiana, to be removed while crews waited for wind to subside. Talking to one officer the removal of “Miss Indiana” was supposed to be at 9am and this was around 4pm when I was filming. As later found out the actual removal did not happen until 6:45pm and by then was safe on the ground. Many say it was a once-in-a-lifetime chance. As many will never see it come down again in their lifetime.
The plan is to remove the statue for repairs and have it back up as well the rest of the renovation of the monument completed by November 4, 2011 in time for the annual Circle of Lights Holiday Celebration which is the day after Thanksgiving.
